Though football, also known as ‘soccer’, reigns supreme as the sport of the Middle East, the young people of the region are falling in love with sports and recreational activities of all kinds. From Tae Kwon Do to Basketball, Swimming, Rock Climbing, Ten Pin Bowling, or even Ballet – people are keen to try it out. This opens so many doors for social interaction through coaching, tournaments and leagues, sports camps and schools etc. Those involved have the opportunity to model and teach kingdom values of teamwork, care and respect. They also have many opportunities to share where these values come from and share about the one who really can teach us these things.
YWAMers in the Middle East are currently involved with:
- Team Building activities,
- Soccer coaching (including coaching and tournaments for street kids),
- Basketball coaching,
- Tae Kwon Do,
- Swimming training,
- Volley Ball,
- American Football,
- Table Tennis
- Running a gym.
But the opportunities for further ministry are endless.
