Many people in the Middle East would love to be able to speak English. This can help them get better jobs and open new doors for education. Many mothers and fathers want to learn English to help their children with their school studies.
Teaching English is a way we can serve them, and build bridges to share the love of Christ with them.
YWAM has been teaching English in the Middle East for over 15 years. Some of our teaching centers are major institutions with hundreds of students; others have just a few classes.
Depending on location, you can come to teach for as little as 8 weeks, but most opportunities require a longer commitment. A TESOL Certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages) is helpful but not usually a requirement. Some locations can cater for whole outreach teams to teach and can give training to prepare them.
The Gulf nations, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman, have many opportunities for people to work as English teachers. However those desiring to teach English in these nations usually need to hold either a degree or a Masters Level education in English teaching or a related field.
